School Counseling Services

A teacher reads a book to a group of children sitting on the floor. Our dedicated counselors provide support to all Rapoport Academy students from Pre-K through 12th grade. The school counselor's role is multi-faceted, focusing on each student's academic, personal, and social development.

  • Counseling: Our counselors provide both one-on-one and group counseling services to support students as they navigate challenges, build coping skills, and set goals.

  • Collaboration: We work closely with school staff and student families to ensure every student receives the best possible support and services.

  • SEL Implementation: Counselors are at the forefront of teaching social-emotional learning (SEL) through classroom lessons. Topics include kindness, conflict resolution, decision-making skills, and more.

  • Referrals: While our services are designed to support students within the school setting, we can assist families in making referrals to outside mental health professionals and community resources when more intensive support is needed.

  • Responsive Services: Our counselors are equipped to handle crises in the rare event that mental health support is necessary.

  • Program Management: Counselors are responsible for planning and implementing social-emotional education and awareness programs that benefit the entire school community throughout the year.

Important Note: Our school counseling services are not intended as a substitute for a professional diagnosis or treatment of a mental health disorder. A list of referrals and community resources is available upon request.

What I like best about being a Counselor at a school:

I love being another member of the extensive team here to support students. I am very passionate about mental health and advocating for students in any way that I can. All I have ever wanted was to work with children and now I am doing that every day in the place where I went to school. I can’t imagine doing anything else, and I am so excited for this school year!

What I like best about being a Counselor at a school:

School Staff provide a safe place for children and adolescents to navigate their learning journey, and each new year provides challenges to support self-growth and learning. As a therapist, I am honored to be a part of each student’s journey by supporting students through their self-exploration and learning how to be their best selves.
