Student Activities

Rapoport Academy Meyer High School provides a variety of clubs where students gain skills in leadership, communication, and independence. From art and business to service and academics, there is a place for everyone to plug in!

While some clubs exist at the elementary and middle school levels, high school offers the most opportunities to join a group.

  • Both our middle and high schools have a Student Council or STUCO. This group of leaders plans events for the student body, including dances, Red Ribbon Week, Homecoming, and more! STUCO is all about creative independence, school spirit, and community fun.

    How to Join:

Sign up at the beginning of the year. Class officers are elected, but anyone can volunteer and attend meetings.

    What the Club Does:

📅 What STUCO Does All Year Long:

    • August: Run for office 🗳️ & kick off plans for the Fall Dance!
    • September: Welcome back! 🎊 Host the Fall Dance, pep rally 🏅, and get ready for Red Ribbon Week.
    • October: Plan the Fall Festival 🎃, dress-up days, anti-bullying activities, and start brainstorming for Homecoming!
    • November: Host the Fall Festival 🍁, learn how HOCO works, and prep for the Winter Extravaganza.
    • December: Finalize Winter Extravaganza ❄️, bring the winter pep energy, and lock down that HOCO venue!
    • January: Time for HOCO! 💃 Promote, plan, pump up school spirit, and dance the night away.
    • February: Spread the love ❤️ with Candy Grams and help celebrate Black History Month.
    • March: Gear up for some friendly competition — Gridiron Games 🏈 (maybe!).
    • April: Prep for the High School Extravaganza 🌟 and round up sponsors.
    • May: Rock those Extravaganza shirts, set up & celebrate 🎈 then end the year with a sweet STUCO ice cream party! 🍦
  • Make a difference in your school and community by joining the National Honor Society! NHS is more than just an honor—it’s a chance to give back, build leadership skills, and be part of something meaningful.

Students with a 3.5 GPA or higher are eligible for selection during their sophomore year. To be inducted, students must also have prior community service hours and zero referrals.

Once inducted, members complete 10 community service hours each semester4 school-based hours and 6 hours with outside organizations. NHS makes earning hours fun by hosting and participating in exciting events that support both our community and our club, including:

    • Selling and participating at Rock the Block
    • Working concession stands at home games
    • Helping host the Fall Festival
    • Participating in Trunk or Treat for the city of Waco
    • Hosting and selling at the End of School Bash

Each year, members are recognized at our induction ceremony:

    • Sophomores receive an NHS certificate
    • Juniors earn an NHS gold pin
    • Seniors are awarded their NHS graduation stole
  •

  • Student Ambassadors is a dynamic, service-centered, student-led organization in our learning community. These student ambassadors, representative of the core community values, will assist at school-wide events such as Meet the Teacher nights, Teacher-Parent Conferences, STEM Nights, Fine Arts Nights, and Senior Graduation. The most active service organization at  Rapoport Academy- Over the last three years, we have worked on almost 70 events, both at school and in the community, with almost 1000 hours of service accumulated.

  • One Act Play is a UIL Competition in which students perform a 20-40-minute play, with the opportunity to advance to the state level. Club members may participate in acting, technical crew, or creative design elements. One Act Play meets for rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays and at lunch on Fridays.

  • The Rapoport Academy Spirit Squad is a student-led spirit organization focused on supporting and representing Rapoport. Students involved will cheer at games, pep rallies, and other school-sanctioned activities. Spirit Squad is open to all students in grades 9–12 and meets on Mondays and Thursdays after school from 4:00–5:00. Put some pep in your step and join Spirit Squad! Sign-ups open in the spring to all students, including incoming freshmen!

  • The Dance Committee is a student-led team that organizes all of the high school dances. All students in grades 9–12 are eligible to participate! To join, come to one of the meetings held every Friday in Meriwether’s room.

The Dance Committee allows students to make their own decisions and put together their very own dances. Members choose themes, venues, decorations, budgets, and more!

  • The official FBLA motto is "Service, Education, and Progress."   The organization emphasizes bringing business and education together through career development and leadership.

At Rapoport Academy, FBLA provides opportunities for students to compete in state and national competitions geared towards preparing students for future careers.  FBLA is a perfect complement to Rapoport's strong emphasis on career and technical education (CTE).

  • The University Interscholastic League (UIL) is an organization that provides academic, athletic, and fine arts competitions for students in Texas public schools. At Rapoport Academy, UIL events help students build critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Participation in UIL helps our community cultivate a strong culture of excellence, Raven pride, and student engagement. It also offers students opportunities for recognition and scholarships, supporting their growth and future success.

  • Band is a space for community, leadership, and creativity. While we strive to perform as a unified ensemble, it also allows us to grow socially and individually. Rapoport Academy is unique in that everyone can join—regardless of prior experience. This benefit opens the door for students to challenge themselves, build confidence, and collaborate to create something greater than themselves.
