Good Morning Ravens,
We are excited to introduce a new program to our high school cafeteria designed to improve your daily student experience: Offer vs. Serve (OVS)!
Our goal is to give you more variety and ownership over your lunch choices while reducing food waste.
How it works:
Every day, the cafeteria will offer 5 meal components: Meat/Meat Alternate, Grains, Fruits, Vegetables, and Milk. Under the new OVS rules, you have the flexibility to customize your tray:
Every day, the cafeteria will offer 5 meal components: Meat/Meat Alternate, Grains, Fruits, Vegetables, and Milk. Under the new OVS rules, you have the flexibility to customize your tray:
- Select what you like: You are only required to choose at least 3 of the 5 components for your lunch to count as a full, reimbursable meal.
- Fruit or Vegetable rule: To meet national guidelines, at least one of your 3 chosen components must be a fruit or a vegetable.
- Milk is completely optional: You are not required to take milk to receive a complete lunch.
- Take all 5 if you want: You are always welcome to take all 5 components if you prefer a larger meal!
No matter how many of the 5 items you choose to put on your tray, the meal is still priced as a single, standard unit.
We hope this added flexibility gives you a more enjoyable and customized experience. Get ready to build your perfect lunch tray starting this November!
Go Ravens!
